OK, so when you need drivers for your system, where do you get them? Pretty much everyone knows to grab your video drivers at NVidia or AMD but what about all of the other drivers that are updated but rarely seen?

Well, I personally like and use DriverPack Solution which is a free driver update "Service" although it is not so much a service as a continually updated driver listing pre-packaged for ease of use. Their official website is DriverPack Solutions, but I use a more convenient method for utilizing their driver updates and in more real time.

So you can read about their stuff at the site above if you wish, and I encourage anyone to do so in order to know what they are all about. This is a totally free open source group, which is why I use them. Now I will explain to you how I utilize their service.

First, download a torrent software, I am use utorrent for ease and convenience and because like all good things, it is free. You can get it easily at File Hippo, and just go to the File Sharing software on the left hand side, Click View More, and scroll down to download it. NOTE***** When you click Download, you will get a new page that has "Download Latest Version" in the upper right hand of the page, this is where you click to download the software!!!!!

Next install the utorrent software and then run it.

Automatic download of DriverPacks on RSS using uTorrent:

1. Open uTorrent (tested on uTorrent versions 3.x)
2. Right-click on "Feeds" in the left menu
3. Choose "Add RSS feed"
4. Where it says "Feed URL," enter the address http://drp.su/rss/driverpacks/beta/
5. Check the box marked "Automatically download"
6. Click OK and receive a subscription to new DriverPacks that are automatically downloaded when they are updated

You will get about 43 files downloaded. Most are driver files in the .7z file format such as "DP_Biometric_13044.7z" which are the driver packs. You will also get 3 additional files in the .zip format such as "drp13-r356.zip", "soft-13053.zip", and "indexes-13053.zip" which are the program files.

How to use:

1. Unzip the drp13-r356.zip file to a new folder, I call mine DriverPack . It will create sub folders Drivers, Soft, Indexes, & Tools.

2. Unzip the soft-13053.zip files into the Soft Folder.

3. Unzip the indexes-13053.zip files into the Indexes Folder.

4. Copy the .7z files such as DP_Biometric_13044.7z into the Drivers Folder.

5.  Open the DriverPack Folder and runt he file DriverPackSolution.exe.

After a few seconds the DriverPack software will open, evaluate the system, and advise of drivers that have updates available.

On the left side of the page click Settings, and select Expert Mode to have it list the drivers separately.

Review the drivers by moving your mouse over each Device Name For Example ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series which will pop up a box showing the current driver, and the proposed new driver by date and version numbers.

At this time I usually make a system restore point, and then install all drivers that apply to me. You can watch the install progress, and then typically your system will require a restart.

I usually fire up my utorrent once every other week to check for updates.

The program will also backup all of the system drivers for you as well as installing some additional software if you request it to.

I know this may be overwhelming to a few of you, and if so, I am always willing to help on TS or remotely as needed.

I hope this is helpful to anyone wishing to update or verify their drivers.

Thanks Toad, giving it a try now
